This is where so many business professionals drop the ball. They don’t realize that tons of people and companies use LinkedIn search function to find not only new vendors, suppliers, consultants, etc. yet also to hire employees, and find new strategic partnerships. When these people and companies search for what you sell, you’re most likely not even showing up in the search results!
Have your doubts? OK pop quiz hotshot, what are your target SEO keywords on LinkedIn (and they’re different from the ones in Google). So we start out here. You have to research and make a list of the SEO keywords that your prospective clients search for in LinkedIn. You can do this by thinking like one of your clients And typing in a variety of search phrases in linkedin’s search function (or even asking some of your existing clients what they searched for in LinkedIn).
You’ll be amazed and who you see show up in the search results… And who doesn’t! So the first thing is to compile a list of your SEO keywords. Identify relevant terms in your niche, business, or profession, and search for them. Your LinkedIn profile’s ranking is influenced by strategic keyword placement in specific sections. In LinkedIn Search Algorithm, certain sections hold more weight than others. Notably, your Name, Headline, Job Title, Company Name, bio, headline, your summary and your work experience.
The next thing is it’s very important to make sure your profile is 100% complete. LinkedIn often guides you through the process, notifying you when your profile achieves 100% completion. So don’t leave any fields blank. If you’re not on the first page of results, update these sections with your SEO keywords and search again. You’ll start to note notice your profiles search rankings starting to improve right away.
TIP 2. Optimize Your Professional Headline.
Instead of using just your job title, how about highlighting the value that you offer to the market? Ideally their problems that you solve, your solution to their wants and your key skills. This helps you stand out from your competition and grabs & hooks the interest of potential clients and connections.
TIP 3. Cleverly Use The Blog And Website Links On Your LinkedIn Profile.
Did you know you can add your website, blog, YouTube channel, Facebook channel, links to landing pages, links to your upcoming webinars or videos, links to case studies on your website and your portfolio links to your LinkedIn page?
Leveraging this little known yet clever LinkedIn marketing trick, not only generate leads from LinkedIn to your website it also increases the amount of conversions you get as well. When people look at your profile, click on ‘Contact info’ and see these things, it adds a lot of credibility. And it’s all about credibility AND conversions when building relationships online 😉.
TIP 4. Increase Your Conversions And SEO Rankings By Letting People Know You’re Open To Connect On LinkedIn
Doing this benefits you for multiple reasons. Firstly, you may have a prospective client who’s looking at your profile and wishes to ask you a question. Yet they’re afraid to send you a connection request because you might click the button “I don’t know this person”. This could cause their profile to be restricted. So now you miss out on the potential new clients.
The second reason you want to do this is because it directly impacts your profile’s ranking in LinkedIn search results. Linkedin’s search hierarchy prioritizes 1st-degree connections with complete profiles and common connections, followed by those with fewer connections. Second and third-degree connections are then ranked by profile completeness. Shared group members and external network connections are also ordered based on profile completeness.
This is why you want to expand your 1st-degree connections. This not only boosts your profiles visibility yet also aligns it with LinkedIn’s algorithm. Improving your ranking in the search results.
To accomplish this simply include any of the statements below in your ‘About’ section:
‘Let’s Connect! I never IDK ♦ I accept all connection requests!’
♦ I accept all connection requests!’
‘LION I never IDK’
NOTE – LION is an acronym for LinkedIn Open Networker. It’s a term used to describe LinkedIn users who are open to connecting with anyone who sends them a connection request.
And at anytime, a new connection starts to spam you, you can always simply remove them.
TIP 5. Include Images And Videos.
LinkedIn offers you a lot of opportunities to visually ‘Grab and Hook’ prospective clients who are visiting your profile. And bear in mind, when you send someone a connection request its very common for them to look over your profile before they decide to accept your invite! So add videos, images, etc. to make your profile more visually appealing.
To revisit this from earlier, a lot of starting new relationships online has to do with building credibility. Your LinkedIn profile is a perfect place to make that happen. You can upload client case study videos, infographics, blog posts, client review videos, eBook offers and more.
By leveraging multimedia on your LinkedIn profile, you can really make your profile stand out from your competitors!
TIP 6. Publish ‘Irresistible Content’ In LinkedIn Publications.
LinkedIn Publications is a section that you can add to your profile where you can spotlight any eBooks, videos, podcasts, audio books, etc. that you or your company have produced. This is the perfect place in your profile to showcase your knowledge and expertise. We always recommend having some type of pop up, email newsletter sign up or some type of conversion tool on each of the pages that you link to for people to be able to read your publication. Think of this section as a lead generation gold mine!
